Over the past few years my writing has generally fallen into two categories: books and tweets. I dedicated the vast majority of my energy and intellectual output to my three books, The Bitcoin Standard, The Fiat Standard, and Principles of Economics, and avoided writing articles to get the books done. Over the last year and a half, I have been writing a work of fictional economic history, The Gold Standard, examining the economics of the twentieth century if the world had not been subjected to the fiat money experiment. But writing about that fictional world has meant that my ideas about the real world have been written out in long tweets, which get lost in the hustle and bustle of Twitter. So I intend to use this substack to archive all my best long-form, and when I finish writing The Gold Standard, this should become the main focus of my writing for a while.
