Earlier this year, Apple announced support for native video podcasts, allowing users to switch between audio and video for supporting podcasts.

Today, we are excited to announce that Fountain for Podcasters customers can now publish video directly to Apple Podcasts without changing their workflow. The feature is available immediately to all existing customers on the Pro plan ($50/month) at no additional cost.

After uploading your video to Fountain, we handle delivery to Apple Podcasts via their API. Your video is processed in 1080p and there are no limits on monthly uploads, storage, or bandwidth.

Apple Podcasts video is powered by HTTP Live Streaming video (HLS video) an adaptive streaming format designed for smooth playback across devices and connection speeds. Fountain also includes your HLS video in the RSS feed for playback in Fountain and other supporting apps.

How to enable Apple Podcasts video on Fountain

First, make sure your podcast has already been submitted to Apple Podcasts and claim your podcast so it is available in Apple Podcasts Connect.

Next, download your Apple Podcasts API key from Apple Podcasts Connect and save the key file securely.

Then, go to your Fountain dashboard, go to your Show Settings, and upload your API key.

Once your API key has been uploaded successfully, Fountain will automatically deliver newly published video episodes to Apple Podcasts using HLS video.
