Library Improvements

Episode content cards now show the first two lines of the show notes, so you get a better sense of what the episode is about without having to tap through to read more. Episode progress and played status are also now displayed more clearly on episode cards.

We’ve removed the subpages for My Episodes and Queue. The tabs at the top of the Library are now the primary navigation.

You can set your Library view to Recently Played, which is the default, or Next in Queue, and switch between them at any time. If you use the queue, it’s now one less tap to start listening, and you can reorder your queue by dragging items up and down.

We’ve also fixed an issue that caused a delay when new episodes were added to your Library, so you should now receive them within minutes of publication.

Content Page Improvements

You can now see every episode on Show pages without having to click through to a subpage. You can also filter the full episode list by saved, downloaded, starred, in progress and unplayed.

On Episode pages, you can now access chapters more quickly by tapping the button next to Summary and Transcript. Chapters will only be available if they have been provided by the podcaster.

Clips and Highlights

A couple of months ago, we made a few improvements to the clipping tool and released a new feature that allows you to share quotes from episodes. Neither was properly announced, so here’s a recap of what changed.

Fountain’s clipping tool needed an update to make it more user-friendly and reliable, so we completed a full refactor.

We also added Highlights to make it easier to share and discover episode segments in Fountain and other Nostr feeds. A Highlight is a text version of a clip that you can repost. If you’re familiar with restacks on Substack, it’s a similar concept.

To try it out, simply select the text you want from the Transcript. Pressing Clip will take you to the clipping tool, where you can adjust the start and end time and post your clip. Pressing Highlight will attach the transcript segment and episode link to a note that you can post along with your comments.

If you want to create a clip or a Highlight but the podcaster has not provided a transcript, you can upgrade to Fountain Premium for $2.99/month to get transcripts for every episode. You can still create clips using the basic clipping tool by pressing Clip Audio from the player menu.

You can find your clips in your Library and on your Profile, and share them as a link, as audio, or as a video. Highlights can be found on your Profile.
