EuroCorn Fashioned

While looking through my notes, I realized I never officially published the recipe for the first #Eurocorn Signature Drink.
EuroCorn Fashioned

#EuroCornFashioned, a variation of an Old Fashioned. It’s easy to make, but it requires a little prep time. This is the first #EuroCorn signature drink.

Ingredients

  • Whisk(e)y or Rum: Use one that’s “not bad,” but you don’t particularly enjoy drinking straight. Many Irish whiskeys fit this category.
  • Dried Apricots
  • Bitters
  • Orange peel
  • One big ice cube

Instructions

  1. Make the ice (prep ahead): Fill a small container with water and place it in the freezer to create one large, clear ice cube.
  2. Infuse the drink: Take the dried apricots and let them macerate in the alcohol.
  3. Wait: Let the apricot-alcohol mixture sit for a couple of hours up to two days. The longer it sits, the sweeter the infused drink will become.
  4. Build the drink: Once your “apricot mixture” is ready, prepare the drink just as you would a classic Old Fashioned, using your infused spirit.
  5. Add bitters: Add three to four dashes of bitters.
  6. Garnish: Place your big ice cube in the glass, pour the drink, and garnish with orange peel.
  7. Serve: Voilà! You have a #EuroCornFashioned. You can also garnish the drink with one of the rehydrated apricots, or just eat them on the side as you drink.
