The Rams rebounded behind Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams, while Jaxson Dart’s knee injury abruptly shifted the focus to whether the Giants can sustain their promising start without their young quarterback.

The Los Angeles Rams’ 28-6 win over the New York Giants was as much a statement of revival as it was a warning about how quickly a season’s optimism can change. Los Angeles rediscovered its offensive rhythm, while New York lost quarterback Jaxson Dart to a knee injury on its opening series.

Matthew Stafford looked far closer to his MVP form than in the Rams’ Week 1 collapse, throwing for 327 yards and four touchdowns. Davante Adams supplied the decisive edge, catching eight passes for 195 yards and two scores, including a 31-yard touchdown and a 64-yard reception that set up another Rams touchdown. Aaron Donald’s return after 32 months added weight to a defense that held New York to 182 total yards. “It felt good to be out there and get a game under my belt … I’m a little sore right now,” Donald said.

The Giants’ interpretation is necessarily more unsettled. Dart’s exit transformed a competitive-looking season opener into an emergency, with Jameis Winston completing 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards and throwing an interception. The injury is believed to involve the MCL, but an MRI is expected to determine the extent of the damage.

A more optimistic reading points to Dart walking off under his own power and reportedly trying to return. But the broader performance offered little comfort: New York managed only 44 rushing yards, failed to pressure Stafford consistently and saw linebacker Brian Burns leave late with an ankle injury. As one account put it, the Giants’ “giant expectations took a massive hit.”

Both perspectives agree that the Rams’ execution was decisive. They differ on what the game means: Los Angeles may have corrected a poor start, while New York now faces a potentially season-defining quarterback question.
