m3ya…dv2g: What's the difference from Marmot?

Marmot is based on MLS (MLS-over-Nostr), MLS is a ratcheted protocol that requires perfect ordering, but provides PFS (Perfect Forward Secrecy) by detaching your npub from MLS KeyPackages, every Marmot device has its own keypackages, and must be granted access to chats one-by-one, if you’ve used Signal or Matrix, you know how this works. MLS is arguably best for small group chats.

Concord is a custom transport and keying protocol, using NIP-44v2 encryption under the hood, Concord is ratchetless, it natively supports a granular Authority Graph for Roles (think Discord Roles; mods, admins, vanity roles), it is multi-channelled, with the ability to create Public or Private Channels gated by Roles, again, akin to Discord, but in a fully encrypted and decentralised format.

Concord essentially implements Discord’s entire centralised feature set in a fully decentralised, encrypted way; all metadata, all events and content, Concord Communities do not compromise.

Concord is very flexible, as well; clients can implement Concord to rotate keys at any preferred time (at Join, Leave, Ban, etc), meaning we have a variable degree of Forward Secrecy, dependent on the client’s needs.
